small talk: color-coded bikinis, dog park therapy & car coffee
trying to juggle cast life and chaos during my slow girl summer
You know that saying about things getting worse before they get better? That’s exactly how June has felt. And I’m not even talking about world events… just my tiny, insignificant life. I caught one of my best friends up on everything that’s happened in the past four weeks and her response was, “Sydne, that’s just too much for one person to handle.”
I’m not sharing this for sympathy. I prefer to be a Nora Ephron heroine over a damsel in distress. But I am sharing it as a little reminder (to myself, and maybe to you too): we, as women, can get through anything we put our minds to. That said… I’ve definitely been leaning on a few survival strategies (more on that in a real talk soon).
The main thing keeping my spirits high? My three boys. So I’ve been soaking up whatever makes them happy as part of my slow girl summer. As a single mom, it’s tough to give each one individual attention all the time. Normally, beach trips help. But no sand for my human son till he’s out of his cast. Luckily, I found an activity they all love: the dog park.
Preston gets to throw balls to all the dogs, Jack Jack gets his lizard-chasing cardio in, and Chubbs lounges in the shade, taking it all in. My job? Keep eyes on all of them. Seeing them happy makes me happy.
Shopped: Left on Friday bikinis… in my color palette
ICYMI, I did an at-home color analysis, and I tried using my palette as a shopping guide. I needed new bikinis, and Left on Friday is so good for mix-and-match options. In true Type-A fashion, I screenshotted the colors and styles I liked and made a mini mood board to see how they looked together.
I really tried to make peachy-blush happen (apparently it’s perfect for a Light Spring with Light Summer crossover)… but sometimes you just can’t make fetch happen. Once I swapped the pinks for white, I fell in love with a warm tan and aqua combo. (p.s. if you’re between sizes I recommend sizing up in LOF bikinis).
Laughed:
Could not be more accurate. I literally found a Hot Wheels in my smoothie this week.
Drank: Celery smoothie
Speaking of smoothies, my at-home green smoothie combo as of late:
Celery
Ginger
Coconut water
Frozen pineapple (instead of ice)
So refreshing.

“Schools of Fish Make the Ultimate Necklace Stack”Adding this to my DIY list: a fish necklace. I brought back my Pisces zodiac necklace and have been wearing it nonstop this summer. But seeing ’s fish roundup? I just want to keep swimming. If I don’t get around to making one soon, I’ll probably just buy this one.
Watched: back-to-back Julianne
Julianne Moore sure was busy. She’s literally everywhere. I devoured Sirens in one night. TBH, the highlight of the dark comedy for me was the cast and the fashion. That mix of Lilly Pulitzer and Julianne’s character’s monochromatic luxury? So good. Then after reading
